Have you ever looked back at where your life has taken you? I have been looking at old blog posts today. I can see the work God has done in those areas of my life previously metioned. I also see that spiritual growth is a building process. I’m still growing in my relationship with Christ, parenting in Christ, and womanhood in Christ. Recently, I have been challeneged with the idea of living authentically. You know what I’m talking about. To actually live out what I say I believe. To walk everyday in the confidence of God. The revival in my heart has been so amazing. I pray for every person out there. I pray that revival reaches their hearts and that they truly put their eyes on Jesus.
Hey y’all! I am going to share something personal today. I have been debating whether or not to share this, but here it goes. I’ve been single for 5 years. Oh, I’ve had the occasional date, but generally there isn’t much interest on my part and sometimes on their part. My best friend recently encouraged me to get back out there, so I’m trying. Sort of. Unfortunately things have changed in the dating scene. You used to meet people at the places that you went and if you liked each other you exchanged numbers and set up a date. Now, you create a dating profile. I guess it’s the same thing, but honestly I feel that a lot of people are missing some good opportunities because they skip over talking to a person based a badly written profile or terrible pictures. Anyway, since meeting people in my everyday life isn’t really working I’m giving the online thing a try. I have what I’m going to call a meet and greet tomorrow at the number 1 place for first dates Starbucks with hardworkingdad. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve actually almost talked myself out of this meeting several times which tells me I need the practice. Anyway, on to more exciting news.
I tested my deadlift max on Saturday and pulled 225#!!! I feel like if I had been fresh maybe I could have pulled more, but I’m so happy with that number. I’m incorporating Wendler 5\3\1 for deadlifts and strict press into my programming. The first week consisted of 3×5 @60, 70, 80 %. I’m excited to see where this goes. I’m also reading my Olympic weightlifting book still and I’m excited to incorporate that. That’s it for me this week. What are y’all up to?
I haven’t remembered to post on the regular. Here’s a little of what’s going on in my life. I started ETP (eat to perform), I’m going to a hot yoga class, I’m still crossfitting, and I’ve started studying Olympic weightlifting.
First of all, ETP is awesome. It has completely rebuilt my thoughts and opinions on food and it really works for me. I’m scheduled to have a DEXA scan next week to get a more accurate measurement of my body fat and bone density. I’m excited to see the bone density and a little nervous about the body fat.
I miss my old gym, but at the same time the change in environment along with the food changes have really helped me improve in my WODs except for running. I still hate it. I have noticed a new mental strength. I don’t know if that’s because of last year’s events or what, but I have a new desire to push through that I didn’t have before. I still may frequent my old gym while keeping my new gym as soon as I can fit it into my budget.
Here’s some photos to give you a visual
Getting my knowledge on
My first distance row. 5000 m in 26:48.
I felt great about this wod. I pushed through and kept a decent pace. Something I’m learning how to do.
Not bad since I hate running alkost as much as rowing.
I partnered up with another girl at the gym here so we went with 65#, but im satisfied with my score. 🙂
And because I can’t resist… here’s our neighborhood peacock
I’ve had so many changes happen since I last wrote. I would apologize for my absence, but I don’t believe anyone reads this anyway. Since I last posted I’ve adjusted my diet, lost both my parents, and got a new career. That’s a lot of change for one person in 6 months. I wrote out goals for the New Year of 2015, but I’ll be honest I don’t really feel motivated to start anything new. My goal here is to post at least once a week.
I haven’t posted recently because I’ve had a lot going on. I have a new job which has included a lot of new training. Also, I have really been enjoying the very short drive to and from work with no traffic! I have however been able to squeeze in workouts and start running again (does that make me crazy?). I have also had more time to cook healthy meals!! If I don’t make it to CFS then I usually pick a workout from my Pinterest page. Here is what I did today:
I also did a 30 minute interval run of 2 minutes on/3 minutes off. Now I’m ready for a great meal, shower, and bed (not necessarily in that order either)!!
Those are my new happenings. What’s happening with you?
I ran with MapMyRun! Distance: 0.00mi, time: 30:00, pace: N/A, speed: 0.00mi/h.
I’m trying a new strategy by breakingmuscle.com to get back into running. Week 1 will consist of 1 minute of running followed by 4 minutes of walking for 6 rounds equaling 30 total minutes! Day 1 is down. Also it’s hot and humid outside.
I don’t really talk about the extra work I do at the gym, but I do train my weaknesses. Today I worked on strict pull ups, wall balls, rowing. During the kid’s class I did 20 strict pull ups with a smaller band size, rowed 500 m to work on my technique and warm up, and did 10 wall balls with a 20# ball. The wall balls definitely challenged me. It was my first time using a 20# ball. Then just to get in some ab and lower back work I did 50 ghd sit-ups and 50 hip extensions. What are some of your weaknesses that you are training?
OL’ HENRY: CFS WOD – WEDNESDAY 16JUL2014
STRENGTH: FRONT SQUAT
15 REPS AT 60%
Here during our strength portion I used 105#.
2:00 ON / 2:00 OFF
BUTCHER PUSH (155#/105#) MAX EFFORT WALL BALLS (20#/14#)
*BUTCHER PUSH OUT AND BACK
**SCORE TOTAL WALL BALLS COMPLETED
Total Reps, Result: 105#/ 36 (10#)
This workout was awful. I started with the 14# wall ball, but then they said the goal was intensity so I dropped to a 10#. That helped some, but I should have also dropped weight in the butchers. My lower body was completely smoked after doing the butcher pushes. That is a mote for future reference.
After that grueling workout my kiddo lower and I had lunch and went for a 3 mile walk at the battleground. My munchkin actually rode his bike. Suffice it to say my lower body is not happy with me.
GOBLIN: CFS WOD – TUESDAY 15JUL2014
METCON: 12 MINUTE AMRAP:
12 SIT UPS
9 PULL UPS
Total Rounds, Result: 3 + 17 reps (at the playground, jumping pull ups)
There wasn’t a noon class and my kiddo wasn’t in the mood for the gym so we hit the playground. I got in my workout and he gets some physical activity via the playground. The pull ups were a challenge so I modified and did jumping pull ups. It took me a little while to figure out the best pull up option so maybe I’ll try again sometime and see if I get more rounds. I didn’t do the skill work today, but I think I’ll squeeze in a walk with the kiddo this afternoon.
TYRANT: CFS WOD – FRIDAY 11JUL2014
SUMO DEADLIFT / STRICT PULL UPS
ALTERNATING EMOM FOR 12:00
1 SUMO DEADLIFTS @ 95% OF 1RM BACK SQUAT (405#/285# MAX LIMIT)
7 STRICT PULL UPS
I only used 205# for this. I tried it at 215#, but I wasn’t able to pick it up with good form so I backed the weight down. I used a green band for the strict pull ups, but eventually had to switch to a red and green band.
METCON: TABATA MASH UP HANDSTAND PUSH UPS / TOES-2-BAR
*:20 ON / :10 OFF
***8 ROUNDS OF EACH MOVEMENT (8:00 TOTAL) ****SCORE TOTAL REPS COMPLETED
Total Reps, Result: 47
We have actually done this workout as skill session before so I knew that I wouldn’t get a super high rep count. Also, I had my son and 2 of his friends with us and one of them got scratched by some briars in his eye so I missed two 20 sec sessions. I still feel good about my 47 reps. I averaged 2-3 reps every 20 seconds for the handstand pushups and 3-5 reps every 20 seconds for the toes-2-bar.
A side note: my kiddo did the youth class and I was so proud of him. Their workout was a 21-15-9 of rowing for calories and dumbbell thrusters. I went through the thrusters with him each time having him focus on me as we worked through each rep. He did fantastic!!! I’m so proud.
